Sell a broken iPhone for cash in Sydney
Cracked, dead, water-affected, or it just will not turn on. We buy it, we come to you, and you are paid at the meeting. Nothing gets posted and nobody decides what your phone is worth while it is sitting in their building.
There is no published price for a damaged phone on this site and there is not going to be one. The ranges on the rest of the site are for working phones. Yours is worth what is left of it, and that is a conversation rather than a chart.
The straight answer
We buy broken iPhones for cash anywhere in Sydney. Cracked screens, smashed back glass, dead batteries, water damage, a phone that will not turn on at all - all of it gets bought, and all of it gets priced on what is actually wrong with it rather than off a chart.
Tell us the model and what is wrong with it, we ring you back the same day and agree a price on the call. Then we drive to you, check the phone in front of you and pay on the spot by cash, bank transfer or PayID. There is no postage, there is no shop to drive to, and nobody has your phone before you have the money.
What each kind of broken is actually worth
A cracked screen. The most common phone we buy. A crack comes off the offer at roughly what the screen costs to replace, and that is the whole of it - it does not zero the phone and it does not make it unsellable to us. It is also the answer to "should I get it fixed first": get a repair quote and a sale price side by side before you decide, because paying a repairer usually returns you about what it cost. We do not repair phones and we have nothing to sell you either way.
A smashed back, dents, deep scratches. All bought. Cosmetic damage is the single most-reported thing on our quote form, well ahead of cracked screens, and none of it rules a phone out.
A battery that will not last the day. Settings, Battery, Battery Health and Charging gives you one number. Under about 80% the next owner is going to want it replaced and the offer reflects that. If it shuts down at 40% in the cold, say so - it is the same thing and it is better said on the call.
Water. The one nobody can price sight unseen. There is a small indicator inside the SIM tray - white means the phone has not been wet, red means it has - and after that what matters is what still works. A phone that got wet, dried out and still runs properly is worth real money. One that got wet and now turns itself on and off is a gamble, and we will tell you which one we think yours is on the call rather than in your driveway. Sometimes the honest answer is that it is not worth the drive. You will get that answer early and it will not cost you anything.
It will not turn on at all. This is the least valuable phone we buy, and we would rather you heard that here than found it out when we are standing at your door. It is parts money rather than phone money. There is also a hard problem with a dead phone: nobody can show it is signed out of an Apple Account, and a locked phone is worth almost nothing to any legitimate buyer - so a dead phone has to be priced as though it might be locked, because nobody can prove otherwise. If you can get it to charge for twenty minutes and show a screen, even a broken one, that is worth doing before you ring.
Touch not working, Face ID gone, a camera or a charging port playing up. All bought, all priced the same way: on what is wrong and what it costs to put right.
Already repaired once. Not a problem, just tell us. A replaced screen usually shows up as True Tone missing from the settings, and we would much rather hear it from you than find it.
The two phones nobody can buy
Still signed in to an Apple Account. If Find My is on and the phone is still linked to somebody's Apple Account, it is activation locked, and no legitimate buyer in Australia can take it. Sign out in Settings, your name, scroll to the bottom, Sign Out. If it is somebody else's account and you cannot reach them, Apple's own account recovery is the only route - anyone claiming they can remove an activation lock for you is not somebody to sell a phone to.
Still owing on a plan, or reported lost or stolen. Call the carrier and settle the balance first. Second-hand dealers have to record the handset and verify who sold it, which is exactly how stolen phones get found - so bring photo ID to any sale, and be wary of a buyer who does not ask for it.
Everything else has a number.
What happens if it is worse than you said it was
This is the part everyone is actually worried about, so here it is straight.
The price we agree on the call is the price you get, as long as the phone is what you described. If we get there and find something you did not mention - the screen has been replaced with a non-genuine part, the battery is at 71% rather than "fine", it is still signed in - we show you what we found, tell you what it changes and why, and you take the new number or you keep your phone. Nobody drives off with it while you have a think. If it turns out to be in better nick than you made it sound, the number we agreed still stands.
The reason we can work that way and a mail-in buyer cannot is that you are standing there. When you post a phone to somebody, they inspect it after they have it, and if you do not like the revised offer your choices are to accept it or wait for it to come back. That is not dishonesty on their part, it is just the shape of that transaction. This one is a different shape.
How the meet works
You pick the time and the place. A shopping centre car park, a McDonald's, outside your work, your kitchen table with somebody else home. Daylight. We are based in Penrith so Western Sydney is home ground, and we cover the rest of Sydney too - if you are a long way out we will say so on the call rather than cancel on you on the day.
The check takes a few minutes and you watch all of it:
- Signed out of iCloud - no account on the phone, or you sign out in front of us
- The capacity in Settings, General, About - matches what you told us
- Battery health - matches what you told us
- Face ID, the cameras, the charging port - whatever you said works, works
- True Tone - present, which is how a replaced screen shows up
- Parts and Service History - for anything else that has been replaced
- The water indicator - in the SIM tray
- The IMEI - from Settings, General, About, or by dialling star hash 06 hash
Then you erase it - Settings, General, Transfer or Reset iPhone - take your SIM out, and you get paid. Back it up before you leave the house, because after that erase the photos are gone. The full seven-step version is here.
What you get paid in
Cash, PayID or a bank transfer, whichever suits you. On the bigger phones we would rather transfer than carry a lot of cash around, and we will say which on the call so there are no surprises at the meeting. The money moves before the phone does.
Do not hand a phone over on the strength of a screenshot of a transfer - not from us, not from anybody. Wait until it is in your account.
Why a broken phone in particular should not go in the post
A mail-in buyer quotes you a number off a form, you post the phone, they inspect it, and then they tell you what they will actually pay. On a clean phone that usually goes fine. On a broken one it is the whole transaction: everything that decides the price is a judgement somebody makes when the phone is already in their building and you are three days away from it.
We do the same inspection. We just do it in front of you, before any money or any phone changes hands, and you can say no and keep it.
We compare all of it here, including where we are the wrong choice - if your phone is clean, boxed and current, a mail-in buyer or Apple Trade In may well pay you more, and if you have the patience for it, selling privately pays more than any buy-back service including this one.
What we buy
Every iPhone from the 11 up, in any condition, anywhere in Sydney. Older iPhones too, priced case by case. iPhones only - no Android, no tablets, no laptops, no watches.
Before you ring
- The model. - Settings, General, About, Model Name
- The storage. - Same screen, the Capacity line
- Battery Health. - Settings, Battery, Battery Health and Charging
- What is wrong with it - all of it. It is the one thing that decides the number
Questions
Can I get the money today?
Often, if you ring early and you are not too far out. It depends on where you are and what else is on that day. What we will not do is promise you a time on a web page and then miss it, so ask on the call and you will get a straight answer.
Do you buy iPhones that will not turn on?
Yes, and it is the least we pay for anything. It is parts money. A dead phone also cannot be shown to be signed out of iCloud, so it has to be priced as though it might be locked. Charge it for twenty minutes before you ring if you possibly can.
Will you buy a water-damaged iPhone?
Usually. What decides it is what still works after it dried out, not the fact that it got wet. A phone that runs properly is worth real money; one that turns itself on and off is a gamble, and we will tell you which one we think it is on the call.
How much is a cracked iPhone worth?
Less than a working one by roughly what the screen costs to put right, which is a lot more than the nothing a trade-in programme will grade it at. We do not publish a figure for a damaged phone, because the honest number depends on which model it is and on everything that is wrong with it. Ring and you will have one the same day.
Should I fix the screen before I sell it?
Get the repair quote and a sale price side by side before you decide. Paying a repairer first usually returns you about what it cost. We do not repair phones, so we have no stake in the answer.
What if you turn up and decide it is worth less than you said?
Then we show you what we found and why, and you take the new number or you keep the phone. That only happens when the phone is not what was described. Nothing gets cut for turning up.
Do you buy broken Samsungs or other Androids?
No. iPhones only. Somebody selling an Android is better off somewhere else, and we would rather say so than waste your afternoon.
